Kardouchoi

Kardouchoi
   As recorded by the Greek historian Xenophon in his Anabasis, the Kardouchoi were an independent people living in the Zagros Mountains who gave the Greeks a terrible beating during their retreat from Persia in 401 BCE. Many scholars believe that the Kardouchoi were the ancestors of today's Kurds.
